Track 2: Healthcare Access and Equity
A we advance the technology, access and equity must remain a central priority as we develop new and innovative care models. Technology and innovation bring with them the risk of furthering health disparities, especially if access to these advances are limited based on financial resources and payer models. As we move forward, we must ensure that care delivery models and technologies that are shown to improve outcomes and improve patient experience are not limited to only a select few, but to all patients.
At the same time, we must ensure we are leveraging innovation at a population level as well – using data analytics and innovative technologies to improve the health of populations, as well as that of individuals. Whether addressing social determinants of health, or addressing the very disparities mentioned above – innovation plays a role in not only the lives of patients, but in the development of an equitable and socially conscious healthcare system. The delivery of innovative technology and process to underserved communities in a way that is equitable and culturally sensitive requires intentionality and mindfulness.
