While it may be cliché to say, “the future is now”, it is not far from the truth when it comes to the many exciting projects and innovations being explored and developed by our institutional members and industry partners. The present state of healthcare delivery abounds with technological advances such as using IoT devices and wearables to obtain health data and the use of predictive analytics and precision genomics to drive medical decision making. It also includes downstream innovations, operational in nature but driven by technology such as healthcare at home and novel payment models. By leveraging innovative technologies and processes we can improve the health of populations and drive down costs in ways not previously envisioned.

Furthermore, as we move forward, the role of analytics, blockchain and data management, and the use of sensor technology and IoT devices will only accelerate, with these technologies complementing one another as they provide data and information to drive future decision making. Projects in this area will use existing and emerging technologies to drive care innovation and improved outcomes while addressing cost and patient centeredness.
